Westmeria Counselling Services has been established in the local community since 2003 supporting people to overcome issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, low confidence and loss. Using this wealth of experience and knowledge we offer the following CPCAB accredited courses.

INTRODUCTION TO COUNSELLING SKILLS COURSE – Qualification:-  CPCAB ICSK-L2

A taster course to teach the use of counselling and relating skills for use in the workplace or as a springboard to further counselling qualifications.

CERTIFICATE IN COUNSELLING SKILLS COURSE – Qualification:-  CPCAB CSK-L2

The foundation of professional counselling practice as well as providing essential listening and communication skills.

CERTIFICATE IN COUNSELLING STUDIES COURSE – Qualification:-  CPCAB CST-L3

An introduction to the three main theoretical approaches to counselling with a great understanding of what to expect from working in counselling agencies.

DIPLOMA IN THERAPEUTIC COUNSELLING COURSE – Qualification:-  CPCAB TC-L4

This two year part-time qualification gives learners the knowledge, skills and competencies to work as a therapeutic counsellor in an agency context.

CERTIFICATE IN COUNSELLING SUPERVISION COURSE

A comprehensive course, reflecting the competencies required in supervision and giving an understanding of essential supervision skills.  This course has been developed in accordance BACP guidelines for qualified counsellors who are looking to further develop their practice.

CPCAB Level 2 Understanding Substance Misuse – USM-L2

This is a Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) Course, which is accredited by the Office of the Qualifications & Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) into the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). The qualification number for CSK-L2 is 500/4684/6.
 
This course is offered to candidates who wish to learn why people misuse drugs and alcohol and develop their knowledge and understanding of substance misuse.

Learning Outcomes:
 
·         Learn about the effects of different drugs
·         Understand the harm caused by substance misuse.
·         Recognise the main signs and symptoms of using specific drugs – including alcohol.
·         Identify the link between HIV/AIDS, hepatitis and substance misuse
·         Know how drugs and alcohol affect pregnancy
·         Recognise the signs and symptoms of an overdose of drugs or alcohol
·         Identify the assumptions and stereotypes associated with substance misuse.
 
 
Entry requirements:
No previous training or experience is required to undertake this qualification.  Age over 18
 
How you will be assessed:
Assessment will be via a candidate portfolio including an assignment.
 
Dates & Times:
15 week course Thursdays 6.30 – 9.30pm.  Start date:  Call for dates.  Next course starting September 2016
