We were delighted to recently hold our very first student graduation ceremony at Community House in Bromley, and it was a day none of us will forget.
The Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Christine Harris, joined CEO and college founder Sue Doughty, our course tutors, and 32 graduating students with their families and friends.
Three years of hard work, recognised
Every student who crossed the stage has completed Levels 2, 3 and 4 of their training and gained their Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. For many, it marks the end of more than three years of study, reflection and personal growth.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sue said:
“This is a very proud and emotional moment for everyone. A culmination of over 3 years study involving a huge amount of hard work and soul searching to finally be able to qualify as a Counsellor. I am excited for the opportunities this will give our students and the difference they will make to the community. We work as a team at Westmeria and our tutors have a real passion to deliver the best training we can.”
To all our graduates: congratulations. We are so proud of what you have achieved, and we can’t wait to see the difference you’ll make.
Why qualified counsellors matter more than ever
Mental health is now identified as the number one health concern globally, and the need for trained counsellors is only set to grow. It has also been named as one of the priorities in the Government’s Men’s Health Strategy.
Our graduates are stepping into the profession at a time when their skills are needed more than ever, in Bromley and far beyond.
About Westmeria College
Westmeria College was established in 2014 to support Westmeria Counselling, the Bromley-based charity Sue founded in 2003 to provide accessible and affordable counselling across the Bromley Borough and the wider region.
Today, the charity delivers up to 500 sessions a week through a team of around 100 counsellors, working from our two sites in Bickley and Bromley.
Since opening, the college has built an enviable reputation for the quality of its training, and many of our courses now run with a waiting list. If you’re thinking about a career in counselling, we’d love to hear from you.
Join us for our first Mental Health Summit
Our celebrations don’t stop there. On Saturday 10th October, World Mental Health Day, Westmeria Counselling will host its first Mental Health Summit at Oakley House in Bromley.
