At Westmeria Counselling, we know that life’s challenges rarely arrive one at a time.
Financial hardship is often accompanied by stress, anxiety, grief, ill health, relationship difficulties, or the emotional impact of unexpected life events. That’s why we’re delighted to announce a new partnership with Bromley Food Bank, enabling food bank clients to access free professional counselling support when they need it most.
This important new project has been made possible through funding from Bromley Council’s Innovation Fund.
Every day, Bromley Food Bank supports local people facing difficult circumstances. Many clients have experienced sudden changes in their lives, such as losing a job, becoming unwell, experiencing bereavement, or dealing with other challenges that have left them struggling both financially and emotionally.
Kate Sing’ombe, Manager of Bromley Food Bank, said:
Many of our clients have suffered a sudden, unexpected life event, whether that’s ill health, the loss of a job, or other circumstances that have spiralled into a situation where they can no longer feed themselves or their family. Alongside the practical pressures, many are struggling with their mental health.
Through Westmeria Counselling, our clients can now access free, qualified support exactly when they need it most, helping them to cope and get their lives back on track.
At Westmeria Counselling, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to be heard and supported, regardless of their circumstances.
Sue Doughty, Founder and CEO, said:
Feeling supported by someone you can trust when life is a struggle is a lifeline. Counselling gives individuals the space to feel truly seen and heard, helping them to process what they’re going through and find a way forward. For many, it will be the only opportunity they have to talk openly about what they are facing.
As a community, we must look out for one another. No one is immune to life’s challenges. When I met Kate and saw the vital work the Food Bank does every day for local people, I knew we had to play our part. Offering our services free of charge to food bank clients felt not just right, it felt necessary.
Bromley Food Bank was established in 2010 by local churches in response to growing levels of food poverty and financial hardship within the borough. Today, it continues to provide emergency food and practical support to people across the community.
We’re proud to be working alongside Bromley Food Bank to ensure that people experiencing crisis have access not only to practical help, but also to emotional support that can make a lasting difference.
Food bank clients interested in accessing counselling can speak to a member of staff at Bromley Food Bank, who will arrange a referral to Westmeria Counselling.
