On September 10-11th Marie will be taking on The Thames Path Challenge. Walking continuously for 100k (60 Miles) from Putney Bridge to Henley. Marie’s reason for doing this walk is for a personal challenge and also to raise money for Westmeria Counselling Services.
Read Marie’s story below-
I have worked as a counsellor and supervisor at Westmeria for over 10 years. It is an amazing service offering low-cost counselling in Bromley. It is a privilege to be part of this organisation and witness firsthand the support and help they give to people. Westmeria offers a safe confidential place for people who are finding life difficult and need support to help them through this period of their life. All money raised will go straight into the charity in order to continue to help more people.
About me
I am married, have three wonderful adult children and three amazing grandchildren. Up until two years ago I was very fit and healthy. I became ill in July 2019 and was diagnosed with a heart problem; this has been well treated but left me feeling vulnerable. This is the personal reason for me doing the challenge, to prove to myself I can.
I am doing the walk with a very dear friend Mary who I have known for over 30 years. We have been training together and our longest walk to date is 48k (30 miles). We set off on this walk with our music, podcasts at the ready but managed to talk for the whole journey, solving many life problems and having a lot of laughs along the way.
Not everyone has a friend they can confide in, which makes the support Westmeria offers invaluable.
Please help me raise money for this great service by giving what you can.
Thank You and if you see two chatty women walking along by the Thames it could be us.
